Changes to README file to show how to use LIBPATH The "XXXX" LS-DYNA executable is built using IBM Fortran Compiler xlf 8.1.1.4. Sometimes the customer installation either does not have any IBM Fortran Compiler installed or has an older version of Fortran Compiler installed on their system. In such situations, LS-DYNA either will not work or works incorrectly. This problem can be resolved in two ways: 1) Customer installs IBM Fortran Compiler which are at xlf 8.1.1.4 or later or 2) Obtain the IBM Fortran Libraries which were used to build this particular version of LS-DYNA free of charge from LSTC If the customer follows Alternative 1, no further action is needed. If the customer follows Alternative 2 then the following procedure is needed to make use of the IBM Fortran Libraries supplied by LSTC to run LS-DYNA program: Unpack the compressed and tarred file( gunzip then tar xvf), ibm_xlf81_lib.tgz containing Fortran libraries in to any file system. When unpacked, the directory structure of these libraries is as follows: ../libxlf8.1.1.4 Set the following environment variable before starting LS-DYNA: k-shell: export LIBPATH=(path)/libxlf8.1.1.4:$LIBPATH c-shell: setenv LIBPATH "(path)/libxlf8.1.1.4:$LIBPATH" For help with this or to answer any questions concerning the IBM version of LS-DYNA, contact LSTC support support@lstc.com 925-449-2500 Hari Reddy hari@us.ibm.com 817-962-6472
